Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the father: Ye shall have eternal life. -2 Nephi 31:20

Oficina week 11 - Like father, like son

Wow Uncle Robert´s mission is dividing?? That´s crazy! How are they doing by the way? Has Brian put in his papers? Tell me when he gets called to serve here in Barcelona and then i´ll train him when he comes. Haha i wish.Ok i´m already signed up to be the first one to go to Africa with Jess and Reid. I seriously would love that so much. My love for Africans has exploded while on the mission. In Lleida we taught probably at least one lesson with an African every day. You just tell me Jess and Reid what you need me to do and I´m there! At least when I get back from the mission. My story this week actually kind of has a little bit to do with a Nigerian recent convert.
This last weekend I went on intercambios with one of our Zone Leaders, Elder Estrada (yes, my same zone leader in Lleida... we just follow each other around). I went up to Badalona (right outside of Barcelona) and was there for a couple of days. I was kinda sad though because Elder Pericle (my "pops") came to do intercambios with the Ayudantes at the same time. But it was fine because I got back saturday morning and we went to the baptism of the other Elder´s investigator, John. He´s from Nigeria and is so humble. He´s the only active African in our ward right now and doesnt speak much spanish but he knows that the church is true and he loves coming to church. Anyways, all of us missionaries were there and after the baptism Elder Middleton and Elder Pericle wanted to teach their investigators so we did splits and I went with Elder Pericle and taught a lesson to one of their investigators, Natalie. We both didn´t really know her but we taught with the Spirit and we invited her to be baptized. She accepted a baptismal invitation without any questions. It was just like the old days... Except i can actually kind of speak Spanish now! But it was so fun to be with Elder Pericle again teaching. Natalie came to church the next day and is progressing super well. Even though she´s not my investigator, it made me realize more that we´re all in the same work and that ALL need to come unto Christ and enter into the kingdom of God.
Here´s some more pictures from Elder Krasnoselsky´s and Archie´s cameras. As you can tell, Archie is everywhere. He takes at least 50 pictures every time he´s with us. I love you all and pray for you every day. Stay strong through the hard times and come unto Christ. He is the Savior and Redeemer of the world and will come to claim his throne in his own time. It´s only through the gospel that we find complete happiness.

Oficina week 10 - Vote Mitt Romney, says España

What in the world??? Me and Elder Call look alike?? Que OFENSIVO!! Haha no we actually got that a couple times from some of our investigators that we look alike. I was so confused when i looked at all the emails and everyone was saying we look alike... i couldnt figure it out until i looked at the pictures! He´s probably the strangest companion i´ve ever had haha but i love him to death. Im glad you all got a good kick out of our amazing looks.
So EVERYONE here loves Mitt Romney. Every member here always talks about him and how amazing it would be to have a member of the church as the President of the states. One member actually got up last fast sunday and bore his testimony about it. Haha it was hilarious. Even random people on the street will recognize that I´m from America and say "you might have a president from your church soon huh?" There´s also little TV screens in the metros that are filled with news on politics. I dont ever really understand what it´s saying though because its all in Catalan. I never thought people here would ever be so involved in American politics. Sorry if this offends Jon and Eric but i thought it was pretty funny. It´s so weird being completely separated from the world. It seems like everything back in the real life is staying exactly the same, but it´s really us as missionaries who stay exactly the same and the whole world around us changes dramatically. I dont think i ever want to go back to the real world haha
In our special meetings this past week, President focused a ton on the importance of members and how to get them involved in the work. We did a billion practicas with the ward council and how we can give better reports of our investigators. A miracle we saw this week was at our ward council on sunday. The meeting started with us missionaries talking about our investigators and less-actives and we went through each person one by one talking about their needs and which specific member could help them. With each person talked about, our Bishop would go to the leaders of each organization and ask which member could help each person. I thought it would be super hard to talk about all of the people we´re teaching and that we´d run out of time because there´s all 3 of us companions that work in the office in the same ward. But we were able to go through everyone and find ways that we can help them progress and come to church. Now we just have to go through with all the plans and see the miracles play out. We really will see a change in the work when we use the help of the members in the way we should.
Val thats soooo good that Shazi got baptized!! im so happy for you. My eyes have really been opened up with how important the members are in the missionary work. There was a statistic the President Hinckley told us in this last conference that of the converts who live by themselves without the support of members, 8% stay active. And of the converts who either live with a member or have friends in the church, 85% stay active. It goes up a whole 100% if there is a member involved. Pretty amazing. It makes me want to be a ward mission leader for the rest of my life. I´ll be completely content if i have that calling for my whole life.

Love you fam. Until next week

Oficina week 9 - Alan

Mi querida familia,
We´re taking preparation day today because this week we have a special conference with Pres. Hinckley for 2 days and some other things going on. There really is no set schedule being in the office. Things are finally starting to slow down a little bit in the office because we´re finally getting pisos done. The mission is growing so that´s why there´s been so many new pisos. We´ve been around 95-100 missionaries since I came in but we´re going to get up to like 120 in the next couple of months if everyone gets here on time! We´ll see if we ever get to the number of missionaries that mom and dad´s mission had. If we do, I hope im not in the office. HahaThe miracle i wanted to share was with a man named Alan from Peru. Elder Krasnoselsky and I were on the metro about a week and a half ago going to the church to teach our english class and we saw a man sitting farther up the metro talking with some friends. As i looked at him i felt like i had met him before. He looked so familiar but i didn´t know where i had seen him from. We both got off the metro and we started to walk towards him. We said hello and I asked him "¿Nos hemos conocido antes?" and he answered "Yes, I think we have" in English! He said "I dont know where we´ve met but when I saw you I felt something like some kind of magnetic attraction" and I told him that´s exactly how I felt. We told him about the message we share and how God leads us to people He has prepared. He asked us where we were going and we said we were going to the church to teach English and we asked him if he wanted to come with us and he said "alright lets go!" He sat through the class, we taught him afterwards in the church, talked about baptism and gave him a Book of Mormon. He didn´t accept a fecha right then but he said he loved to read and he´d always been searching for the right church. He came to a baptism the next day and we taught him some more. BUT we found out he didn´t live in our area, so we passed him to the Hermanas and they´ve taught once and are going to meet with him again tomorrow. The Spirit works in so many different ways and I know it worked through Alan and us. It´s such a blessing to have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost and it´s so important to always stay worthy of it. If we are, God can work through us and through others. Loves

Here´s some random pictures from our Filipino amigo Archie!! He´s 75 years old and was baptized 30 years ago. Probably one of the most faithful members ive ever met.

Oficina week 8 - New Standards

We are ALWAYS running to our visits. There´s hardly any time to proselyte at night so we just have to run constantly. We honestly dont ever walk when we´re out going to other visits. Its a blessing though because im getting back in shape!! plus its pretty fun dodging people walking on the sidewalks haha. Hopefully my shoes last.
There are new standards in the mission! After reaching our 450 goal last year, President really feels like this mission is turning into a mission where we should baptize every weekend. Baptizing every week in a month hasnt happened a lot in the mission but its definitely possible and its the goal he wants us to have in mind every single month. It´s almost like we are starting to serve in a South American mission. And thats the mindset we need to have because it can happen. This year has started out a little slow with baptisms in the mission but its starting to pick back up again. Every week we´re supposed to have 6+ people in church, 12+ member present lessons, 3+ fechas, and 6+ new investigators. Its a huge step up from last year but we´re already starting to see that its possible to get these goals. Here´s a miracle from last week.....We had a visit this last week with a Filipina lady named Shiryl and her boyfriend from India named Jitender. They live with a lady from Ecuador named Marlene. Lately, we´ve been struggling to set fechas with our investigators, but as we walked up the stairs to go to their piso for the visit, I turned to Elder Krasnoselsky and said, "we´re going to set 3 fechas this visit" We walked in, said a prayer with all of them and prayed specifically for the Spirit. We had a short lesson and then invited them to be baptized. They all said YES! We pulled out our baptismal plans and filled it out with all 3 of them. Jitender just got his papers so we are praying that he and Shiryl can get married soon. It was a miracle to see that when we have that faith and do our part, God will provide the rest. We reached that standard and some of the other ones this last week. This mission is going to be a whole new mission soon. Thats why we´re called EL FARO.
I love you fam. Sorry i dont have more pictures right now but i´ll get some soon. Thanks for all your emails and updates. I love hearing about whats going on in the family life. Especially from our Laker family life.... thanks greg!! Until next week!
